Why I Decided to Close Ampersand Bakehouse

After seven wonderful years of baking for the Danforth East community, I’ve decided to close the doors of Ampersand Bakehouse.

This decision didn’t come easily. The bakery has been such a big part of my life and so many celebrations in our neighborhood. From birthday cakes and cupcakes, to wedding cakes and coffee catch-ups, Ampersand Bakehouse was built with a lot of heart.

But as the years went on, I realized that what I loved most wasn’t just the act of baking — it was the creativity behind it. Developing new recipes, designing colourful cakes, styling photos, and curating celebrations were always the parts of the job that lit me up. The long production days and the physical demand of running a bakery began to leave less and less room for that creative spark.

Closing the physical bakery isn’t the end of my baking journey. It’s a shift into something that feels more aligned with where I am now. I want to spend more time creating, writing, and sharing recipes that inspire other people to bake at home.

If you’d like to keep baking with me, you can sign up for my email list where I’ll be launching my digital recipe collection, featuring our most-loved cookies, cupcakes, and seasonal favourites, right here:

Thank you for every visit, every cake order, every conversation, and every bit of love you’ve shown the bakery over the years. You made Ampersand Bakehouse so much more than a business. You made it a community.

I hope you’ll keep baking with me. 💛
